Buju Banton Gets June Date In Misconduct Saga {HeadLines}

Buju Banton will have to wait a while longer to know the outcome of his juror misconduct case in his quest for a new trial.

Buju was ordered by Judge James Moody to appear in court on June 26 along with Terri Wright, the juror who is alleged to have violated court orders during the singjay's February 2011 drug trial.

Nicki Minaj & French Montana Sample Sly's "Murder She Wrote" Rhythm{HeadLines}

More international celebs continue to cash in on brand Jamaica. Rapper French Montana and Nicki Minaj are the latest to capitalize on the Jamaican dialect and music. In a new collab dubbed Freak which features the two, Sly and Robbie’s “Murder She Wrote” rhythm made popular by Chaka Demus and Pliers in 90’s is being sampled. During the making of the video for the song Freak, Nickki Minaji is being advised by French Montana to call out some Jamaicans in an effort to sound hardcore. The track features Nicki spitting the lyrics using the Jamaica tongue “freak, some gal a freak a di week” before uttering the lines “sum a sehh dem a gully, sum a sehh dem a gaza” in another verse. Both French Montana and Nicki Minaj mimic the delivery by Chaka Demus and Pliers on the 1994 single, Murder She Wrote.

Universally acclaimed supermodel and former talk show host, Tyra Banks has added some island flavor to her ongoing reality series as she appeared in Jamaica last week to film footage for America's Next Top Model (ANTM). Organizers of the fashion-themed reality show chose Kingston as the international destination where contestants of America's Next Top Model Cycle 19: College Edition will gather later this season. As a result, Tyra Banks flew into Jamaica last week where she filmed material for the series, which has been in existence since 2003.

Reggae/dancehall musician Sizzla Kalonji has launched a musical onslaught against several dancehall acts in his recent Hurry Come Up song. In the song, he speaks of recent happenings in the dancehall which he did not approve of. He tackles the Nah Sell Out deejay Khago in the song's first verse with: 'Come a tell di ghetto yutes seh him anuh rasta/ After yuh trick di yutes dem impostor/ Weh di judgement yuh guh grow yuh locks fa/ Di money an di bling an young gal distract yuh/... Bout yuh waan threesome inna di blue movie show/ Have two gal an a suck off di next one toe.' In May, the dreadlocked Khago dropped a bombshell on the dancehall by stating that he never said he was a Rastarfarian.

GOVERNMENT TALKS BIG PLANS FOR REGGAE {HeadLines}

State minister for Tourism and EntertainmentDamian Crawford said plans are in place to further promote reggae music. Crawford was speaking on the Entertainment Buzz Wednesday. The newly appointed State Minister for Tourism and Entertainment explained that some of the plans to enhance the reggae industry include the introduction of a registry of entertainers to send to foreign embassies’ in various countries, provide training and expose the entertainers to FAM trips with travel agents across the globe. Damion Crawford also hinted that Reggae Month should have an international tour to further promote the reggae brand.

VYBZ KARTEL DENIED BAIL ON GANJA CHARGE {HeadLInes}

JAMAICAN dancehall deejay Vybz Kartel was denied bail when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court to answer to a charge of possession of ganja this morning. Senior Magistrate Judith Pusey, refused a bail application by attorney Michael Deans and ordered the deejay, whose real name is Adijah Palmer, to return to court on November 10 when the case will again be mentioned.
