Jimmy Cliff Gets Reggae Grammy; Plus Tribute To Bob Marley {HeadLines}

Jimmy Cliff has won the 2013 Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album.

The legendary entertainer has beaten off competition from Toots and The Maytals, Sly and Robbie, Sean Paul, and The Original Wailers to cop the coveted title for the album Rebirth.

Meanwhile, the prestigious award in its 55th staging also featured a big night for reggae and Jamaica, honouring reggae legend, Bob Marley. The tribute featured Bruno Mars, Sting, Rihanna and Marley brothers Ziggy and Damian Junior Gong.

They did a quick rendition of Bob Marley’s “Could You Be Loved” while images of Bob played on the screens behind them. But it was Junior Gong who used the few minutes wisely making Jamaicans and reggae lover’s proud with a vibrant performance.

Ellen Degeneres, Keith Urban and his wife, actress Nicole Kidman, Wiz Kalifa and a pregnant Amber Rose, Drake, Farrell, Adel and Taylor Swift among others clapped, danced and sang along during the Bob Marley tribute.

The Grammy’s was hosted by LL Cool J at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Sunday.
