Entertainers, sports personalities and others who travel frequently could be barred from leaving the island if they are delinquent in paying their taxes.
Merris Haughton, Director of Communications at the Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ) says individuals planning to travel overseas and have outstanding tax liabilities could be barred from leaving the island.
This move the TAJ said is part of its enhanced compliance programme targeting taxpayers who have undisputed liabilities and have been contacted but remain delinquent.
