Jamaican Dancehall superstar, David Brooks, more popularly known as Mavado, has officially launched his brand new record label, Mansion Records. According to the “Gully God,” the first single, entitled “Delilah” will be released on the label next week.
Mavado told the Jamaica STAR that he formed the label to help himself and younger artistes within Dancehall. He said, "I just start this record label because I have a lot of young artistes around me and I think I can do so much for them.” He also expressed excitement with regards to trying his hand at things like producing; something he’s never done. "I will be producing, and we have more things like promoting. It's a great feeling. It's a great honor. It's not about the money, we still haffi inna it (music) and try build it,” he said.
Furthermore, Mavado insisted that along with artists from his group, the Gully Squad, he would also collaborate with the likes of Assassin, Munga & members of the Alliance. He also hinted that some international artists could be working with him on the label. "Right now, I have a lot of international connections. It's a lot of them, so I am not sure who will be first.”
Mavado’s initial single, “Delilah” was self-produced, in collaboration with Logwood Productions. Additionally, there were two mixes of the song done; one of which was done by Big Ship producer, Stephen “Di Genius” McGregor. Both mixes will be released on ITunes on May 24.
The “Star Bwoy” deejay says that a video for “Delilah” will be will be shot in the coming weeks and also claimed that another new single “Do Road” would soon be released off the new label.
