Investigators in a murder case against Dancehall superstar, Adidja “Vybz Kartel” Palmer are insistent that the deejay and other accused men will plead guilty after shocking revelations made in court yesterday.
Kartel, along with fellow Portmore Empire artiste, Shawn Storm, his designer/booking agent, Calvin “Moonie” Haye and Cayro Jones appeared simultaneously in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrates Court on Thursday. Each of the men was charged with murder in relation to the killing of Clive “Lizard” Williams in Havendale, St. Andrew this past August. Following claims by Kartel’s defense team that there was a lack of evidence, prosecutors fired back; claiming that they possessed video proof that the men were involved in the murder of Williams.
The video, captured via cellphone, allegedly shows Kartel and other men killing Williams, who was beaten and stabbed to death, according to police. The cellphone was later seized during the time of Kartel’s arrest along with other items. Additionally, prosecutors in the case intimated that they also have recorded telephone conversations and witness statements that implicate the four accused men in the crime. Given the evidence the prosecution team provided, they were adamant that it would force defence lawyers to advise their clients to plead guilty in the murder case.
Meanwhile, Kartel and his associated were remanded into police custody until December 2. On the other hand, “Di Teacha” faces a November 30 court date in relation to charges of murder, conspiracy to murder and illegal possession of a firearm stemming from the shooting death of Barrington “Bossie” Burton. In that case it’s alleged that Kartel and a group of men shot and killed the St. Catherine based promoter/businessman while standing with friends alongside Walker’s Lane in Gregory Park, St. Catherine this past July.
